Biography
Dr. Mitul Luhar joined the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at USC as Assistant Professor in January 2015. He was appointed the inaugural holder of the Henry Salvatori Early Career Chair in 2020 and promoted to Associate Professor in 2021. Prior to joining USC, Luhar was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Graduate Aerospace Laboratories at Caltech. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT in 2012 and B.A. and M.Eng. degrees in Engineering from the University of Cambridge in 2007.Research Summary
Dr. Luhar's core research expertise is in fluid dynamics. His work addresses aerodynamic and hydrodynamic design, coastal protection, river restoration, and environmental science, and involves a combination of laboratory experiments and modeling.Awards
